Just listened to a brilliant podcast of a talk by Tom Kelly (of IDEO fame). There are so many gems in that talk, that I just had to share it. Warning: its about an hour long, but is well worth the effort.
So Tom receommends that one of the traits we develop is to be an anthropologist doing field work, or a traveller with a heightened sense of awarenessin an unfamiliar sourrounding. It is only when we have our "Fresh eyes" mode on, that we will begin to see opportunities in the mundane. Tom also has this beautiful quote from Marcel Proust "The real act of discovery consists not in finding new lands but in seeing with new eyes" I love it so much that I have tacked it on my bulletin board at my desk. Enjoy Tom's talk and I hope you learn as much as I did.
